PHILIPPINES MOVING FORWARD TO IPV6 THE TIME IS NOW

For the last two decades, the Internet has been running with the Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4).  It has been incredibly resilient in spite of its age, however, it is beginning to show major problems.  Most importantly, there is a growing shortage of IPv4 addresses which is needed for newer machines to function.  The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) came up with the Internet Protocol version 6 which answers this problem through space expansion, improve total connectivity, reliability, and flexibility.  It preserves everything and promises much more of the version 4.

The first ever IPv6 Summit “Philippines Moving Forward to IPv6” will provide a rich and active environment for learning, connecting, and collaborating in preparation for IPv6.  We will provide industry related cases for us to understand the issues and allow us to openly dialogue and debate the future of the IPv6.  This will open us on the shape of the Internet infrastructure and the shape of things to come, and how to grasp the opportunities present in the fast-changing environment.

This is just a start of something big, a global gathering dedicated to generating awareness on the inevitable evolution of technology.  The sessions will provide a rich mix of international global leaders that help shape the new Internet world.  Key players from the ICT industry coming from the private and public sector, Internet Service vendors, national research professionals, and the academe convene to further promote market and user awareness, create a quality and secure New Generation Internet and allowing equitable access to knowledge and technology.

The first ever IPv6 Summit provides a venue to:

  1. EXPAND and understand the emerging trends that will shape your Internet infrastructure specifically the IPv6
  2. MEET other corporate leaders from the private and public sector, Internet Service providers, research professionals, and the academe which you may want to build partnerships in the realm of the “next generation” protocol, IPv6
  3. DIALOGUE and debate on issues faced with the IPv6.
  4. CONNECT with experts and learn new tools that may assist you on the deployment of IPv6

ABOUT THE IPV6 FORUM PHILIPPINES

The IPv6 Forum Philippines is a chapter of the IPv6 Forum dedicated to the advancement and propagation of the IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6)  in the Philippines.  Comprised of individual members, rather than corporate sponsors, the group's mission is to provide technical leadership and innovative thought for the successful integration of IPv6 into all facets of networking and telecommunications infrastructure, present and future.

The summit will present a rich mix of case studies, interactive dialogues on matters that shape our Internet infrastructure more specifically the deployment and implementation of the IPv6.  There will be a range of topics that will provide a practical insight to meet today's challenges and highlight the questions business will face in the future.

Since 2004 the Global IPv6 Forum have jump started the awareness campaign on IPv6 and countries around the world have followed suit.  Now, it is the Philippines' turn to communicate this upgrade to our professionals who will shape our new Internet world.  The task force aims at converging the ICT community coming from the private and government sector, academe, and Internet Service Providers, software and hardware vendors, and corporate enterprise.

ABOUT THE IPV6 SUMMIT

True to its mission, the IPv6 Forum Philippines in collaboration with the Philippine Network Operators Group (PhNOG), and the Advanced Science and Technology Institute (ASTI) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) spearhead the very first IPv6 Summit in the Philippines, which also coincides with the 3rd PhNOG Meeting.

This event will convene the Philippine Internet Community to advocate for IPv6 awareness and ultimately jump start its deployment.  With the theme “Philippines Moving Forward to IPv6”, this two- day summit will serve as a large-scale campaign to promote the 'next generation' protocol or the Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6).  The key focus of the summit is to provide a venue to promote the adoption and the deployment of the said upgrade.

During this event, key players from the ICT industry coming from the private and public sector, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), research institutions, and the academe will convene further to create and promote a quality and secure New Generation Internet to enable equitable access to knowledge and technology.

THE PLENARY

The Plenary sessions will feature global leaders who share the immense challenges and opportunities we face in shaping the Internet Infrastructure.  The speakers will provide insights into how some of the world's most influential organizations and institutions are tackling the central challenges of upgrading into the global standard.   The future of the Internet architecture depends on integration of comprehensive solutions at the ever-changing intersection of business and society.  The conference will focus on the promotion and the deployment of the IPv6.
